Kendall King

Over the last decade Kendall King has grown from being a singer and choir director to a much sought after songwriter and worship leader. Since the 2005 release of her first independent project 'For a Reason,' Kendall has expanded her music ministry with an uncompromising commitment to praise and worship with a nontraditional twist.  

Kendall is an anointed soloist, director, pianist, worship leader, composer, arranger and producer. She comes from a long line of pastors, teachers, singers and musicians that have tremendously influenced her ministry. A pastor’s daughter from Camden, NJ, she started singing at the age of three, and at the age of 12, she started playing and directing choirs for her father's church in Philadelphia, PA. She received her musical training from private instructors and at the Settlement Music School, Philadelphia, PA. She attended Howard University, sang with the Howard Gospel Choir and recorded on the album, “God Can Make a Way."

Kendall has recorded and arranged background vocals for numerous artists such as Stellar Award winner, Phillip Carter & SOV, Robert E. Person, John Tillery and Living Sacrifice, Carmen Calhoun, Lisa Bellamy, Javon Inman, and Tyrone Powell to name a few. Her original compositions have been recorded by such artists as Phillip Carter and SOV—“Rejoice” and “Be Still;” HawKings Productions—“We Bless Your Name;” Robert E. Person—“Clap Your Hands” and “Gotta Praise;” the Gospel Music Workshop of America—“Be Still;”  Brian Spriggs and New Worship—“Lead me to the Rock,” Bowie State University Gospel Choir—“Holy and Righteous,” and “Holy God;” Jimmy Russell and BOC—“Great God;” Pastor John Tillery and the Southern Maryland Choir "Lift Up Your Heads;" and award winning, Grammy nominated jazz artist Phaze II—"Feel My Love" and "Release Me."

Kendall has performed with such artists as LaShon Pace, Micah Stampley,.and Earnest Pugh, and has opened for Beverly Crawford and John P. Kee. She has performed at the Kennedy Center, Lincoln Theater, MCI Center, Showplace Arena, and the renowned Cotton Club. She has appeared on the Word Network Bobby Jones Show, FOX 5 News, and several COMCAST broadcasts.

Kendall has received numerous awards and honors recognizing her accomplishments.  She was nominated for four 2012 Rhythm of Gospel Awards—Song of the Year, Traditional Female Vocalist of the Year, Contemporary CD of the Year, and Producer of the Year. Kendall was the recipient of the 2012 Rhythm of Gospel Song of the Year Award for “Crazy Praz;” and the 2007 Ensound Female Vocalist of the Year award. Her music can be heard locally on Praise 104.1 radio, and on terrestrial and internet radio stations around the world.  

August 2019, Kendall completed a two-week concert tour in Poland with John Tillery & Living Sacrifice, where her song “My Soul Doth Magnify” was featured nightly. She is also a regular performer on the Spirit of Washington Gospel Cruise.

As a musician and choir director, Kendall has served as the Minister of Music for several churches in the Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia (DMV) areas. Kendall often is invited to conduct music workshops, and to teach and direct choirs for special occasions.

Kendall has released two studio projects, 'For a Reason' (2005), 'Faithful' (2011) and and one live recording 'New Dimension Live Level I' (2020), which features all original music. She just released a Christmas single, 'Love Is Christmas.' Kendall is also busy writing and producing music for several gospel artists scheduled to be released in 2023.

Kendall is committed to God and to her music. She believes that music and art are God's gifts to His people, and that they communicate what the soul cannot express. Psalm 34:1, "I will bless the Lord at all times, His praise shall continually be in my mouth." 

A gifted and talented person, Kendall is also an award-winning, full-time graphic designer.  She is the recipient of the 2006 Newsome Award for CD Packaging of the Year.
